Recent Work

interfaces/interfacing

This recent body of work is a continuation of re(collections). Here, I incorporate the visual language of digital interfaces as both a compositional device and a metaphor for memory. Windows, selection boxes, and icons represent an ongoing process of accessing, editing, and reorganizing memory, while glitch effects suggest its degradation. These elements reflect the instability between past lived experiences and their reconstruction in the present.

Artist Statement

re(collections)

This body of work examines how my chronic illness affects my ability to remember. Over time, memories of the past become increasingly distorted and romanticized through repeated recollection. The burden of nostalgia, together with an awareness of my own mortality, shapes my attempts to preserve and reassemble fragments of love, loss, and betrayal into visual compositions. In developing these works, I introduce omissions, substitutions, and distortions as a means of reconciling fragmented and shifting experiences. Drawing on art historical imagery and references to popular culture, I assemble these elements into narrative paintings that reflect a broader human impulse to collect, preserve, and reconstruct expressions of personal identity and experience.
