Game Summary
Cat Conquest is an asymmetrical, engine-building card game for 2–5 players. Each player is a Tomcat (TOM) competing for control of the neighborhood. Start with nothing, and outplay rival Tomcats by gathering resources to build your colony, claim neighborhood properties, and stockpile enough coins to sustain the neighborhood after the dust settles.

Colony Cards
COLONY cards aid in battles against PROPERTY cards and an opponent’s TOM or COLONY cards. COLONY cards with PASSIVE BUFFS benefit the player as long as the COLONY card remains in play.
Buffs
BUFFS can be combined in creative ways to gain strategic advantages. BUFF SPELLS allow players to spend COINS and FISH TOKENS to cast spells that target opponents' COLONY cards and PROPERTIES.
Debuffs
Buff Toms
Consequences
DEBUFFS create disadvantages for opponents. BUFF TOMS are rare TOM upgrades. CONSEQUENCES cause major setbacks for the player who draws them.
New Mechanics
Property Loot
Certain PROPERTIES have new loot options, such as pushing your luck by drawing two cards from the risk/reward Play Deck or gaining two Coins. The higher the PROPERTY health, the better the loot.
Injured Status for Toms
When your TOM’s health reaches 0, it becomes injured. The player who defeats your TOM completes an objective and places their control token on the Defeated TOM Scorecard. All is not lost, though. Spend two coins and use FORTIFY to bring your TOM back to the fray at LEVEL 1.
Perks for Level 3 Toms
When you upgrade your TOM to LEVEL 3, you unlock a perk. Flip over your Tom’s level 1 and level 2 cards and choose one of the four perks located at the top and bottom of the cards, then tuck it under your Tom. You can also forfeit the perk and exchange it for a colony card buff or fish tokens.
The Backstory
Cat Conquest was inspired by thirteen neighborhood cats I unexpectedly inherited after buying a new home. Fat Momma was the first cat I met. She had a litter of kittens under my deck just a week after I moved in. Her card was the first illustration for the game, and it remains unchanged. Bubba claimed a spot on the rug just inside the sliding glass door during the freezing winter months, while his nemesis, Butters, kept watch from outside. I found Creamsicle clinging to the screen door. He was the most affectionate cat of them all and was quickly adopted by a friend. Most of the cats in the game are drawn from this experience, earning their trust, caring for them, getting them adopted when possible, and working to get them spayed and neutered.
